Each day will include writing and critiquing of proposals, presentations, small group discussions, and proposal review by experienced grant writers in the same or related discipline. The tentative schedule is:

Day 1 - Problem Statement, Outline, Literature review/need statement

Day 2 - Literature Review continued, Goals and Objectives

Day 3 - Methodology/Research Design

Day 4 - Evaluation; PI and Senior Personnel Bios

Day 5 - Budget Development; Final Submission

Proposal Writing Tutorial: Writing a Winning Grant Proposal

This summer grant writing tutorial will develop faculty and administrator grant writing skills as they prepare a specific project for submission for funding. It will guide participants through the steps of grant writing, teaching the basics as well as some of the fine points that provide the competitive edge when competing for a grant. At the end of the six-week period, the PI is expected to have a proposal ready for submission to a funding agency. Participants will work through the grant-writing process step-by-step, under the guidance of workshop facilitators, meeting once a week and working on individual proposals during the week between meetings. The participants and facilitators will act as a review panel and critique each other’s work throughout the program.

Several methods for obtaining feedback on proposals will be discussed and implemented, including technical, disciplinary-related review from colleagues on and off campus, as well as on-going communication with agency program officers. On-campus faculty reviewers from a variety of disciplines will assist in the review and feedback process.
