American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009:
Congress passed and President Obama signed the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 (ARRA), also known as the Stimulus Package, in February 2009. Contained within this act is the allocation of billions of dollars for research at the nation's colleges and universities, funded through the federal agencies. At the same time, the speed with which these funds are being made available and the quick response time that is required can be confusing.
To help avoid missed opportunities and to ease tensions with the quickly approaching due dates, the Office of Academic Grants and Sponsored Research (OAGSR) created this web site to provide you with up-to-date information and resources. Implementation of the ARRA is continually evolving, so we will update the site as we learn about changes and additions. TCNJ garners stimulus funding to increase service to the community
EWING, NJ … The College of New Jersey has received a $256,000 grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to fund 29 AmeriCorps positions at various higher education institutions and non-profit organizations in central New Jersey. This is the first award that TCNJ has received as a result of the Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and TCNJ is the only institution of higher education in New Jersey to receive funding from this initiative. Nationwide, similar grants will put more than 10,000 AmeriCorps members in distressed communities to meet critical social needs resulting from the economic crisis.
